Diode Laser Hair Removal
Diode laser hair removal is a safe and effective treatment for reducing unwanted hair. The laser emits controlled heat that targets the pigment in the hair follicle, damaging the follicle's ability to produce new hair while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed.
With each treatment, more actively growing hairs are permanently reduced. Some clients notice visible improvements after their first session, although the treated hairs typically begin to shed 10–14 days later.
Clinical studies have shown that 3–6 treatments can achieve up to 90% permanent hair reduction for many individuals. Occasional maintenance treatments may be recommended depending on your hair type, hormones, and the treatment area.
Why Are Multiple Treatments Needed?
Hair grows in three different phases, and only hairs in the active growth phase (anagen) can be effectively treated by the laser.
Since not all hairs are in the same growth phase at the same time, several treatment sessions are required to target each follicle during its active cycle. The exact number of treatments varies from person to person.
Before Your Treatment
To ensure the safest treatment and the best possible results, please follow these guidelines:
-
Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least four weeks before your first treatment.
-
Continue to avoid excessive sun exposure for four weeks after treatment.
-
Do not wax, pluck, thread, epilate, or use depilatory creams for at least two weeks before treatment.
-
Shaving is permitted and recommended.
-
Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment, unless instructed otherwise.
-
Avoid aggressive exfoliation in the days leading up to your appointment.
-
Arrive with clean skin free from makeup, deodorant, perfume, lotions, or oils.
Following these instructions is essential for achieving optimal results while minimising the risk of side effects.
During the Treatment
Before treatment, the area will be cleansed and a thin layer of cooling gel will be applied.
The laser handpiece is placed directly against the skin, delivering short pulses of laser energy that last only a few milliseconds. Most clients describe the sensation as similar to the snap of a rubber band or the flash of a camera.
The handpiece is moved methodically across the treatment area, with pulses delivered every one to two seconds.
Mild redness or slight warmth is common immediately after treatment and usually subsides within a few hours.
Aftercare
After your treatment:
-
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for several days.
-
Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) daily to protect the treated skin.
-
Do not wax, pluck, or epilate between treatments—only shaving is recommended.
-
Inform your practitioner of any new medical conditions or medications before future treatments.
Following the recommended aftercare instructions helps maximise your results and reduces the risk of complications.
Risks
As with any treatment involving the skin, there is a small risk of infection, bleeding, allergic reactions, burns, pigment changes, or other complications.
Please inform your practitioner of any medical conditions, allergies, medications, or circumstances that may increase your risk of complications or require additional precautions. This is particularly important if you have diabetes, a weakened immune system, or any condition that may affect healing.
We follow strict medical hygiene and safety protocols to minimise the risk of complications. If you are unsure whether laser treatment is suitable for you, we recommend consulting your physician before your appointment.
Avoid touching or rubbing the treated area unnecessarily during the first few hours after treatment to reduce the risk of irritation or infection.
We also recommend using a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) for several days after treatment, particularly on the face, neck, and décolletage, as the skin may be temporarily more sensitive to UV exposure.
Please remember that UVA rays penetrate cloud cover throughout the year, even during winter and on overcast days. Daily sun protection is an important part of protecting both your skin and your treatment results.
